April 2- April 24
Holy Thursday- April 9
Set an alarm for 6:50pm tonight. At 7pm, Catholic Churches all around us will be offering Mass in memory of the First Mass, the Last Supper. You can livestream a Mass to attend. Get your family to offer this prayer with you. As Mr. Maag said in his email, use your body posture and vocal responses to participate. Leave your phones in another room. Not one thing is going to be sent to you that’s more important than Jesus giving us the Priesthood and the Eucharist. You can offer up one hour in prayer for your family’s safety and in hope for the World.
Good Friday- April 10
Set an alarm for 11:50am. Scripture tells us that Jesus hung on the cross dying from Noon until 3pm in the afternoon. That sacrifice was for YOU, so YOU could go to Heaven and enjoy eternal happiness. I’d say that’s worth a few hours of holiness on your part. Catholic Churches all around us will be livestreaming services this afternoon. They will offer Stations of the Cross (we’ve prayed those) and reading the Passion of Jesus (we’re read that). Leave your phones in another room. Even if you don’t ‘attend’ a service, you can get off of your electronics and social media. You can read the Passion in the Bible. Or, perhaps some TV channel will be showing Jesus of Nazareth, the video I’d been showing clips from in class. You might have a prayer book at home with the Stations in it. Or, google any of those if you can control yourself while you are using the iPad to pray. Be Holy!
Easter Sunday
I know that your Easter will look different from other years. There’s nothing to do about it but celebrate what the day is really about- the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Livestream an Easter Mass that you share with your family. Leave your phones in another room. Use Facetime, Google Duo (a video-calling app for unlike phones- say an iPhone and a Samsung), or skype to be with the family that you can’t be with today. And, if you get a chocolate bunny, eat the ears first.
Blessings!
